CHAPTER 14 (CANVEY ISLAND)

Smallgains Creek, Island YC: Page 106 and 107 (IYC info box) - the club has a website, www.islandyachtclub.co.uk , which has a useful plan of the area, linked from the home page.

CHAPTER 15 (RIVER MEDWAY)

Hoo (page 114) - Orinoco Channel towards Hoo Marina - we notice that the first two PH withies may not now show at HWS. In the marina itself, heavy silting has occurred and some berths now dry completely. When requesting a berth, specify if you need to stay afloat. (Aug 2008)
Chatham, public transport
- page 117 - on a recent visit we found that scheduled Arriva bus services still finish at about 2000, but there was a shuttle bus for the cinema running every 20 mins until just after 2300 to and from the town centre. (Aug 2008)
Chatham, Sun Pier:
page 117, l/hand column - Sun Pier has suddenly been closed UFN after a structural failure, and it seems it will be out of action for a long time. Try the Council number given if you want to land there. (April 2008)

CHAPTER 16 (THE SWALE)

Buoyage
As we warned in the text, buoys in the E. Swale are being used to trial new LED lighting systems and are subject to change - they have already changed three times in Jan, Feb, May
, and Aug 2008! We suggest that you hold off any book or chart amendments until the trial has finished, in Sept 2008 when we issue final buoy details.
Approaches to East Swale: Page 123 (Rolling Road map) and page 124 - extra buoys used in the trials have now been removed, only the charted buoys remain. Trial continuing until end of August. Buoy characteristics as follows during August:

West Swale: Page 131 (chartlet) - the leading light just SE of Kingsferry Bridge shown as F.WRG has been changed to Iso(6s)WRG. (Aug 2008)

CHAPTER 17 (The North Kent Coast)

Whitstable (page 137): Chartlet - light on East Quay - delete '& F.R.' and '(occas) SS (Traffic)'.  Text in same column: delete sentence 'Traffic signals on the East Quay show FW if harbour is open, FR when closed.'  This traffic signal has been discontinued (March 2008). F white light also discontinued (May 2008).

CHAPTER 18 (RAMSGATE)

Ramsgate Marina - page 143: There is a new additional office, where dues may be paid and key-codes collected, at the head of the western foot-ramp from the West Marina.
